What is the difference between HEVC and H.264?
HEVC (H.265) is a newer codec that delivers the same picture quality at roughly half to a quarter of the bitrate of H.264. That means lower bandwidth use and more concurrent viewers. H.264 is older but plays on virtually every device. This VeCASTER does both, switchable in software.
When should I choose HEVC?
Choose HEVC when bandwidth is limited or expensive — hotels, ships, campuses, remote sites, or high viewer counts — because it streams Full HD from as little as 250 kbps.
Can it stream two different versions at once?
Yes. Two simultaneous encoders let you publish a high-quality TV stream and a lightweight mobile stream from the same HDMI input at the same time.
What is SRT and why does it matter?
SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) recovers lost packets and encrypts video, so it delivers broadcast-quality, low-latency streams across the unpredictable public internet — ideal for remote contribution.
Will older devices still play HEVC?
Most modern smart TVs, phones, and players support HEVC. For older equipment, simply switch the VeCASTER to H.264 — or run both streams together.
How do I watch on a regular TV?
