What is an HDMI IPTV encoder?
An IPTV encoder is a hardware device that converts an HDMI video source into a compressed IP stream (H.264) that any device on a network or the internet can play. The VeCASTER does this in real time and serves the stream from a built-in server — no computer required.
Will the stream play on all my devices?
Yes. H.264 is the most universally supported codec, so streams play on phones, tablets, computers, smart TVs, IP set-top boxes, signage players, and every major platform out of the box.
Do I need a subscription or cloud service?
No. The VeCASTER includes its own hardware streaming server, so it streams directly on your LAN or to the internet with no monthly fees and no per-viewer charges.
Can it stream to YouTube and a local IPTV system at the same time?
Yes. With up to 4 simultaneous streams you can push RTMP to YouTube while serving HLS/UDP to your in-house IPTV boxes and smart TVs at the same time.
How do I watch the stream on a regular TV?
Use any IP set-top box, a smart-TV IPTV app, VLC, or our VePLAYER decoder to convert the stream back to HDMI for any television.
How many encoders do I need?
One VeCASTER streams one source channel. For several channels, add more units (rack them with the VeCASTER rack plate), or move to the VeCODER multichannel encoder or the INFINIUM 4K headend.
What is the latency?
On a local network the VeCASTER achieves glass-to-glass latency as low as about 50 ms. Internet latency depends on the protocol and network; SRT keeps it low and reliable over the public internet.
